| Official description by Serge Lutens
This perfume is constructed in a subtle balance on the "Absinthe" scent. A fresh oriental, aromatic, of an irreproachable elegance. A delicate counterpoint of gentleness and bitterness. Its powerful scent, wed to bitterness, brought attention to "artemesia absinthium" early on. An Egyptian hieroglyphic, in fact, makes mention of it under the name "sem" around 1600 BC. This perennial plant, herbaceous and with silky leaves, grows wild in uncultivated and rocky terrain. Different species are found in Arabia, Palestine, Egypt, Judaea, then toward the East as far as China. "Absinthe" is a fresh oriental, aromatic, singular, of an irreproachable elegance. "Absinthe" gives the perfume its fresh top notes. Invisible, anise sustains it throughout. Cinnamon, so hot and lively, melds with marigold, which lends a subtle candied note; that liaison contributes to the gentle, bitter, voluptuous effect that defines the scent. The rounded heart of the perfume is amply diffused by the foamflower, jasmine, lily, gentleness dominating the scent. The distinctive aroma of vanilla, diffused in bottom note, unifies the fragrance, underlining its oriental character. Sustained by musk and essence of light cedar, this perfume is constructed in a subtle balance on a delicate counterpoint of gentleness and bitterness.
